The historical center of Berlin is very dense with sites of historical events, from the reconstructed Hohenzollern (the royal family that created modern Germany) palace and tombs, to the government quarter that served as the epicenter of the most radical political movement in history Nazi Germany. As a consequence of WWII, this historical center was divided by a wall. In its middle Checkpoint Charley was erected, making it possibly the most important location of the Cold War.
After a century of turmoil and totalitarianism, Berlin is now a symbol of world freedom, with the gate of freedom- the Brandenburg gate- at its center, as well as the symbol of German democracy, the German Reichstag. This tour will tell the amazing story of Germany and its capital through these historical sites of world importance.
