What shall I see

Departing from Edinburgh, our Outlander tour travels north-west, venturing to Midhope Castle, also known as Outlander's 'Lallybroch Castle'. Pause for some photos here to soak in the atmospheric surroundings before we journey onwards. Following in the footsteps of Claire and Jamie, our Outlander tour continues to Blackness Castle*, the Headquarters of Outlander's Black Jack Randall, on the shores of the Firth of Forth. This castle dates back to the 15th Century; home to the Crichton family, its mighty fortifications make this ancient castle look like a 'ship that never sailed'. Spend time here exploring its magnificent walls and enjoy breathtaking views over the Firth of Forth. We then journey on to the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, where you will have the opportunity to visit Linlithgow Palace*, Outlander's 'Wentworth Prison'. The palace was originally used as a relaxing retreat for the Royal Family on journeys between Edinburgh and Stirling Castle. Its impressive towers overlook stunning scenery. After Linlithgow Palace, our Outlander tour travels on to the country home of Callander House. The house, now a museum, dates back to the 14th Century and has ties to the Antonine Wall; Rome's northern frontier in Europe. Visit the famous kitchen, which was the set of the Duke of Sandringham's kitchen in Outlander and enjoy its beautiful surroundings. From Callander House, we travel to the Royal Burgh of Culross. A tiny village nestled on the coast of Fife, Culross is arguably the best example of a 17th Century village in Scotland. The gardens here feature in Claire's herb garden, and the Mercat Cross in Outlanders' Cranesmuir Village. Here we stop with plenty of time to explore the village and its cobbled streets and quaint Biscuit Café, before our Outlander tour stops for photos at the Tuilyies Standing Stones (time permitting). We then travel to Hopetoun House*. The grand stately home dates back to the 17th Century and is set in a beautiful country estate, surrounded by a deer park and nature trails. Here we have the setting for the home of Outlander's Duke of Sandringham, and a magnificent home it is! You may choose to tour the House, or explore its grounds, before we head back to Edinburgh, where our unique Outlander tour ends.

I went on the Outlander, Palaces & Jacobites Experience bus tour with Timberbush Tours on Friday May 3, 2019. Our guide/driver for that day was Andrew T, aka Jaimie. He was dressed in a kilt. He was a genuinely nice guy, with a good sense of humor! He did a great job! He not only told us a lot of interesting information about Outlander, the Jacobites and Outlander film locations, but a lot about the history and famous inhabitants of Edinburgh as well. We drove in a luxury modern air-conditioned coach with people from different countries: The Netherlands, USA, Sweden etc. We left Edinburgh at 8.45 am and were back at about 17.45 pm.We visited 6 locations and we had plenty of time to visit the locations and to take photos.I really enjoyed the Outlander Tour. It is definitely recommended for the Outlander fan! Next time I want to go on another Outlander tour to visit other film locations. I booked the tour a day before, at the very last minute and I succeeded. There was room for 15 people, only one place was not occupied.
