Treat yourself with a full-day tour of Évora and the Megaliths of the Cromeleque dos Almendres and dive into Portugal's history. First, you will be picked up from your hotel, after which we continue to Évora, UNESCO protected historic capital of the Alentejo. Spend some time getting around the city center and discovering structures from Roman and Renaissance times. There is even a temple daring all the way back to the 1st century AD- the Temple of Diana. Next up is the Renaissance Church of St. Francis and its Chapel of Bones (Capela dos Ossos). As its name says, it has human bones and skulls embedded into its walls. When in Évora Cathedral, you climb to its roof and marvel the views overlooking the surrounding country.
Afterward, the journey continues to the greatest megalith dolmen (tomb) on the Iberian Peninsula- Anta Grande do Zambujeiro. As a part of our tour, we will also see a smaller dolmen of the Anta da Tourega. To wrap up the day, you will be taken to see a megalithic complex older even than Stonehenge.
