The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel by a minivan and a ride through Lisbon oldest neighbourhoods starting with Portas do Sol and Nossa Senhora all the way to Monte Belvederes. Explore the beautiful old streets before a visit to the oldest church in the city, the Lisbon Cathedral and admire its artistic expression through architecture including a reconstructed rose window.
Next, walk down the cobblestoned streets of the historical neighbourhood of Alfama to Belém and learn about the period of the “Age of Discoveries” and how the town expanded during that time. Ponder at the magnificent view from the Castelo de S. Jorge and take amazing photos. Visit the architectural masterpiece with a beautiful facade called the Jerónimos Monastery.
Also, don’t miss out on visiting Belém Tower situated on the river Tagus that was used for defence throughout history. Have a look at the Monument to the age of Discoveries before proceeding to lunch and tasting a traditional Pastel de Belém custard tart. After lunch proceed to the Mãe d'Água Reservoir in the Amoreiras district which is an 18th century aqueduct.
After that we end the tour in Baixa area where you’ll learn about the rebuilding of Lisbon after the devastating earthquake of 1755. You’ll be pleased to know that it’s also one of the best places for enjoying the nightlife.
