This town offers outstanding sandy beaches, delicious traditional seafood in beautiful restaurants and a really lively holiday atmosphere. Sesimbra used to be a guarded secret by the Portuguese. It was considered one of the most preserved and traditional fishing villages in the country but began growing rapidly because of the location and big touristic potential. That, however, did not stop the fishermen there to keep up the tradition and live their life by fishing in the Atlantic which was lately moved to Porto Abrigo, their harbor. Sesimbra is a very popular sport-fishing center. You can also see an 8th-century castle built as a fortress above the village by the North African Moors. This castle provides a wonderful panoramic view of the town and the sea below. You can also kayak around the coastline and see caves and secluded beaches, or take a boat tour to meet the wonderful dolphins that live nearby. Sesimbra has a unique lighthouse Cabo Espichel which apparently has old dinosaur footprints around it, definitely something worth checking out. Relax on crystal clear beaches, or visit Parque Augusto Polvora, a place of amazing relaxation and many sports activities that will entertain you for a long time. Near Sesimbra, there are many natural wonders to see, like the natural park of Arrabida or Lagoa Pequena.
