This 3-day qualification teaches you about the key grape varieties grown around the world, the different styles of wine obtained from them and the production of spirits and liqueurs. It’s an introduction to the all major wine producing countries in the world. You will also learn the bases of professional wine tasting.
The course covers the major grape varieties, wine-producing regions of the world, food and wine pairing, sparkling wines, fortified wines and the major spirits. Included as part of your course is a tutored tasting through 45 wines and four spirits.
This course is ideal for anyone wishing to be introduced to wine or sprits in an informative and structured manner. It is suitable for both the enthusiast and those looking to enter or already working in the wine and hospitality business requiring good level of product knowledge. Although many students take the Level 1 Foundation course, it is not required as long as you have some wine knowledge, an enthusiasm for the subject and willingness to learn.
Sessions Class offered over 3 days, from Wednesday to Friday
This course is examined with a 60-minute multiple choice question paper consisting of 50 questions. The pass mark is 55% and the exam takes place in the last session of each course. Please note that should you not pass the exam, you will be allowed to take a second exam in O Chateau’s premises for only 69€.
Upon completion, students will gain the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits, recognized by the hospitality, wine and spirits industries around the world.
