The Blue Lagoon is located close to Split so it's a popular destination for tourists wanting to have a short boat trip. The lagoon is situated on the island Drvenik Veli and it's surrounded by the 2 islands, Krknjaš Mali (small) and Krknjaš Veli (big), or more commonly know as Krknjaši. The sea here is crystal clear so no wonder the bay is full of boats visiting this place. A speed boat will take you there in about 30 minutes but even a slower boat will take no longer then 1 hour. The bay also has a few restaurants and bars so you will not go hungry or thirsty :)
Most boat tours will take you also to the beautiful village Maslinica situated on the Island Šolta which is very close to the Blue Lagoon. There you will have some free time discover this picturesque village, have lunch or coffee and ice-cream, or just have another opportunity for swimming on the beaches in Maslinica.
Other stops that you might visit are the village Stomorska also situated at the island Šolta, the peninsula Čiovo which is connected to the main land by a bridge through the city of Trogir, or some speedboats offer the possibility to visit the popular tourist destination Trogir where there are lots of historical sights to be seen. Be sure to read the full tour itineraries so that you can choose the perfect tour for you.
The bigger boats offer a more comfortable ride, with tables and a bar on board, a sundeck and also have toilets. If you enjoy sunbathing we suggest to come to the boat a bit earlier so that you can choose the best spot on the sundeck. On the other hand, speedboat tours will get you there much faster and are more of an adrenaline ride. Speedboat tours are also small group tours, usually accommodating up to 12 people at most, while the bigger boats can accommodate sometimes up to 100 guests.
Most of the boats have free snorkeling equipment on board so be sure to ask the crew if you enjoy snorkeling. If you choose one of the bigger boats, be sure to reserve the snorkeling equipment with the crew as soon as you get on the boat since the number of snorkeling gears might be limited.
We think that taking a boat trip to visit the Blue Lagoon is one of the best boat tours to enjoy in Split - it's not far, it's beautiful, comfortable, you have lots of free time to enjoy the sea and the tours are offered at very affordable prices compared to other boat tours in Split, such as for example the
tours to the Blue Cave and 5 islands. It's just an ideal option if you want to have a relaxing day at sea to enjoy swimming and sunbathing.
