Trogir is one of the oldest settlements in the region, with the record of first inhabitants in the 3rd century BC. However most of the sights in Trogir that you can see even today date from the 13th - 17th century. The rich historical heritage of the city was also recognized by UNESCO and its historical center was placed on the UNESCOs World Heritage List in 1997. The city center has numerous churches and buildings dating form the 13th century. Some of the most important sights of the city are the Kamerlengo Fortress, the Duke's Palace, the city gate and the city walls. Due to it's rich history it is advisable to have a professional guide for a more immersive experience, but even a short walk on the promenade and it's narrow alleys is a memorable experience. The city center is situated on the small island with two bridges, one connects to the main land and the other to the island Čiovo (since the bridge was built, it is now an artificial peninsula). There are 3 main tour options when visiting Trogir from Split:
Regardless of which tour you choose, Trogir is definitely a memorable coastal town which we highly recommend visiting if you have some extra time while staying in Split.
