This excursion offers another aspect of the island. It begins with Casa Rocca Piccola, a residence of the 16th century that has been retained in its original state and is still inhabited. It will give you an insight of the local aristocratic traditions and of the incomparable heritage of the capital city, Valletta.
This guided visit will allow you to gaze at the main rooms of the residence, notably the family chapel, the library, the ceremonial bedroom with its canopy bed, two dining rooms, three lounges, the smallest of which contains a unique collection of surgical instruments dating back to the 18th century, during the time of the French Grand Master De Rohan.
This visit is followed by an audio visual show of « Valletta Living History » which showcases Valletta’s major milestones, its rich architectural heritage and the ways of life of its population. It gives you the chance to familiarise yourself with the city’s story – from the arrival of its first settlers, to its heroic role in World War II. You will discover the well known events that shaped the destin y of the Mediterranean and Europe as well as the intriguing facts that make Valletta the fascinating and vibrant city that it is today.
