Salzburg is a great destination to visit, but you can expect a long day! The city is located 300 kilometers to the west from Vienna and it takes about 3 hours to get there, without taking into account comfort stops along the way - so you can expect to spend about 7 hours on the road when you join a tour to Salzburg from Vienna. Add about 5 hours of sightseeing and you have a 12 hours long tour. For this reason the tours start early at about 07:30 and you are back to Vienna at about 19:30 in the evening.
And now for the good parts - Salzburg has a lot of interesting buildings and history, being that its historical center is under the protection of UNESCO. The baroque architecture of the city center is amazing and there is really a lot to see. Salzburg is also the birthplace of Mozart and you can even visit its birthplace. Lots of churches are scattered around the city and several interesting palaces and fortresses.
Apart from the historical center of Salzburg, the nature around Salzburg is amazing. On this tour is will have the opportunity to visit the Salzkammergut lake region which consists of several crystal clear lakes situated in the lower regions of the Alps. The villages on the banks of these lakes are very picturesque and hide a lot of interesting stories and legends that you will be able to discover.
It's really hard not to be impressed by the whole region of Salzburg and you will feel very happy having spend the whole day visiting this part of Austria. The only downside to taking a day trip to Salzburg from Vienna might be the long bus ride but we still think it's quite worth it!
Everything is great except the tour leader walk too fast as my mom is old and can't walk so fast. But overall is great
alex came to pick us up. he was a driver and not a guide as we understood. The entire trip he did not tell us nothing about the places we had stopped (although we asked), he drove very fast. He only spoke in Russian with one of the eight passengers who spoke Russian language. We asked for heating in the car and he said that it is not possible. When we arrived only in Salzburg, the guide was waiting for us. she was nice . In summary, only the lakes and mountains was very beautiful. Beyond that, it was not good
