A peaceful day out somewhat off the beaten track.Plenty of time to sample and purchase local cheeses. Calm and helpful guide when I thought wallet lost only to find it was still on cruise ship!

We met our lovely and knowledgeable guide, Vines (pronounced Venus) at the docking place of our cruise ship. We booked the tour through Happy to Visit but it can be booked directly through Terra Travels. Our tour, at less than half the price of the cruise ship fee, included a private car, private tour guide, and only the two of us. Vines was incredibly knowledgeable of the area, the history, the nuances of the town and area. Our tour began walking along the water to see the 'singing stairs', and invention where there are pipes underground that play a tune based on the in inflow of water along the waterway. It is uniquely idyllic. Vines explained the Roman influence in the town, took us to several historic sites within the main ancient city, walked the old Roman road which is now lined with local shops and vendors, took us through the local market where we sampled incredible cheeses of the region, walked with us to the old port and main entrance to the walled ancient city, then, by private sedan, took us to the Ancient Vineyards (Kraljevski Vinogradi) to sample five wines--2 whites, one rose, two reds--along with some light snacks. Vines was a delight! I wanted to get some flowers for our cabin and she took us to an exquisite florist (Sarita) who made an incredible arrangement of fresh flowers that lasted over a week for under 20 euros! While we were waiting we enjoyed a neighborhood café bar drinking coffee, Maraschino liquor, and local beer called Karlovacko. You will NOT get this personal and up-close tour anywhere else! And the price is half what you would pay aboard ship! Ask for Vines (pronounced Venus) and you will be Most Happy!

The meeting was easy but during the booking process I didn't get informed about the resevation of the seats on the boat. We only realized that the seats get occupied in the time of arrival when we got on the boat. The guide and the crew were helpful and kind. The boat was much worse than I expected because on the website they wrote that the inside of the boat is air conditioned but there was no sign of that and it was really really warm inside. The food and the "all you can drink" drink were pretty awful. The 3rd stop of the boat was not managed well because the only program was eating ice cream in a small town but the only cake shop in the town where people were sent to eat ice cream was too small for everyone so most of us needed to do something else in 38 degrees. They also offered a beach to visit but it was too far compared to the one hour we got for that stop. So the first two stops of the trip were amazing but because of the unexpected and unpleasent conditions and bad organization I wouldn't recommend it even compared to the cheap price.

You get what you pay for. Nothing more. For the price, it is a fine trip. Do to misunderstandings with HappyToVisit we went to the meeting point a day too early. That could have been avoided, since we wrote them several emails. The guide was loud, but not easy to understand. She kept good track of the time schedule, but did not provide any information about the sightings. Regarding the food: The Appetizers were not appetizing. Bring snacks from home. We had the meat and fish lunch. Can only recommend the fish. Swimming at the beach was very nice, but bring slippers, because the beach itself is full of stones. Also, we were not informed before departure that the botanical garden was closed that day. Not until I asked our guide about directions. Nothing was planned instead.

Dear Maja,

Once again we apologize for the misunderstanding on your booking date. Your tour was in fact not confirmed on the 06.08. since the boat got full, but after you agreed to go on the tour on the 07.08., my colleague who was working in the afternoon shift didn't notice the change, and by accident confirmed the tour on the 06.08. instead... I'm sorry that this unfortunate event occurred - we will make sure that it never happens again.
