Trakošćan, protected as a historical entity, consists of the castle, the building next to the castle, park and forest park with a lake. Its location (placed on the hills of Croatian Zagorje) and appearance (dating from the 19th century) make Trakošćan one of the most romantic places you will ever see. As a part of the castle, there is a museum on four floors with a permanent exhibition which contains valuable examples of baroque furniture, different weapons used from 15th to 19th century and you can even play the early 19th century piano in the music salon! Romantic gardens, built on the model of English parks, and a large lake in front of the castle are something you should not miss.
Our next stop will be Varaždin, a city throw back in time, also known as the ''city of baroque''. We'll visit the most important monument in Varaždin – the Old Town, which hosts the Varaždin City Museum since 1925. Afterwards, you can decide if you want to relax and take a walk through the picturesque city streets or to visit the famous city cemetery and admire garden architecture; whatever you choose, this gorgeous place will charm you and make you want to visit again.
