Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe. Stonehenge forms part of a remarkable ancient landscape of early Neolithic, late Neolithic and early Bronze Age monuments. With a history spanning 4,500 years Stonehenge has many different meanings to people today and it is a rich source for the study of prehistory. Archaeologists believe it was constructed from 3000 BC to 2000 BC. The site and its surroundings were added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986. Stonehenge is owned by the Crown and managed by English Heritage.
