Salzkammergut is a beautiful natural display situated to the East of the city of Salzburg, Austria. It's a mountain region with lots of big glacier lakes whose shores are populated with scattered villages and resorts. The part of the region is listed a UNESCO World Herritage Site, not only for the nature, but the region has a very rich history which started about 3800 years BC. The region has lots of Salt mines which has been the leading industry in the area. Now the Salzkammergut region is mostly a tourist resort. Among the biggest lakes are Attersee, Traunsee, Mondsee, Wolfgangsee and Hallstattersee.
