Opened only recently in the year 2015, the Museum of Alka is currently the only place where you can learn and see everything there is to know about the Sinjska Alka - an event listed in the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage lists. Alka is a knights tournament that is held every year from 1717 - it recently celebrated the 300th anniversary. It's a celebration of the victory of the knights of Sinj over the Ottoman empire. The tournament consists of horseman trying to hit a small target with a lance from a galloping horse. Only locals can compete and it's one of the most popular traditional events in Croatia visited by most government officials. It is held every year in the third Sunday of August.
