The oldest of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, the Pyramids of Giza are also the only ones to remain almost intact. Constructed over a 20-year period, concluding around 2,560 BC, at the time they were the tallest man-made structure, remaining so for more than 3,800 years. To this day, nobody knows for sure exactly how they were built, although there are many theories. You will stop for lunch (optional) before returning to Cairo city center, where you will travel to Tahrir Square, home of the world-renowned Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. Built in a neo-classical style by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, its collections exceed 120,000 masterpieces, ranging from the pre-dynastic era to the Pharaonic and Graeco-Roman periods. Discover the treasures of the child King Tutankhamen and Pharaonic Gods and Goddesses among the many exhibits, before your transfer to Cairo airport.
