Archaeological site of a Roman military camp Tilurium (Tilurij) which is located in what is now the village of Gardun. Tilurij is an extremely important archaeological site that is systematically investigated the past ten years and plans including an archaeological park. Tilurij has an extremely favorable position that the Roman army used to build their camp at the beginning of the first century. 7th Legion used the camp by mid-first century as an important strategic base camp, and later it was used for smaller military units, until the end of the fourth c. The legion included around 5000 soldiers and we must ask ourselves what the hustle and bustle ruled in this picturesque sleepy little village. In the stone houses in Gardun are still built monuments from Roman times.
