The Monastery of Batalha was build in 1385 to comemorate the Porguese victory in the battle of Aljubarrota. It is one of the best preserved examples of the late ghotic arhitecture in Portugal. It took over a centaury to build this monastery. The monastery was added to the UNESCO World Heritage site list in 1983.
