Delphi is a famous ancient sanctuary , which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List since 1987. Very well preserved ruins and importance for Greek history makes it one of the most popular historical sites in Greece. The slope and unspoiled nature of Mount Parnassus, where Delphi is located, attracts a lot of visitors.
According to Greek mythology, Delphi was the center ("navel") of the world and in the 6th century B.C. symbol of unity of the ancient Greek world and religion. Delphi has two sanctuaries, Temple of Apollo - where Pythia delivered her oracles, and the sanctuary of Athena Pronaia - where is the symbol of Delphi, the ancient structure Tholos.
