Vis is a small but very beautiful island which is home to some of the most beautiful natural attractions on the coast of the Adriatic sea. Up until recently only multy-day tours stooped here as the island is quite far from Split (about 45 kilometers). But since the development of new speedboat tours it's now a very popular day tour destination and each year gets more and more visitors.
Some of the most popular attractions that you can see here are the Stiniva bay, which got popular by being listed as one of the most beautiful bays in Europe, the Blue Cave, a beautiful small cave which you can enter only by a small boat and the reflection of the sun paints the walls of the cave in beautiful shades of blue and the Green Cave, a bit bigger cave in which you can swim and when the sun is just right the walls of the cave get a nice green color.
Apart from the main natural attractions Vis has nice Mediterranean fishing villages, such as Komiža and Vis, which you will be able to see from the boat but rarely there is time to actually stop in any of them.
The trip to Vis lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes by speedboat and so only speedboats are visiting Vis on day tours from Split. If you decide to go, be sure to get ready for a bit of a thrill ride if the sea is not completely calm and be ready for some patience as the attractions that we mentioned can get really crowded during high season.
