A Complete Review of the Small Group Capri Boat Tour from Naples
If you’re dreaming of seeing Capri from the water without the crush of crowds, this small group boat tour from Naples might just be your answer. For around $187 per person, you’ll spend about 9 hours on a traditional Sorrentine boat, crossing the Bay of Naples and around the island, with plenty of stops to swim, snorkel, and explore. Led by knowledgeable guides like Alessandra, Nunzia, or Gabriel, you’ll be treated to stunning views, intimate experiences, and a chance to dodge the typical tourist rush.
Two things stand out: first, the personalized attention that comes with a small group—only 12 travelers at most—and second, the exceptional views of Capri’s grottoes and Faraglioni that are more impressive from a boat than from crowded land tours. On the flip side, one thing to consider is the reliance on good weather—a rainy or windy day could mean cancellations, which are out of your control. This tour suits travelers who value authentic, less crowded experiences and are willing to be flexible with weather conditions.

This tour offers a well-balanced mix of sea adventure and land exploration, designed for travelers who want more than a quick glance at Capri. Starting with a hotel pickup from Naples, it cushions the hassle of coordinating transport, making your experience smooth from the outset. Remember, you’ll need to meet at the designated point at V. Francesco Caracciolo—a straightforward walk or short ride from the city center.
Crossing the Bay of Naples
The journey begins as you leave behind the crowds of Naples and head out in a traditional Sorrentine boat. In the reviews, many travelers appreciated this choice over the typical hydrofoil, highlighting the more relaxed, scenic approach. The boat is often described as stunning, with comfortable seating and a casual vibe that invites lingering photos of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples.
This leg of the trip is not just transportation; it’s part of the experience. Bring your camera to capture crisp shots of volcanic landscapes, and enjoy the refreshing sea breeze. The skipper or guide often shares stories about the coastline and islands, adding depth to your journey.
Capri’s Sea Caves and Landmarks
Once aboard Capri, your boat will circle the island, giving you the perfect vantage point for iconic sights. You’ll visit the Blue Grotto, famed for its glowing blue water caused by sunlight filtering through an underwater opening—a truly mesmerizing spectacle. Reviewers rave about the spectacle of blue reflections, describing it as unforgettable.
Other grottoes like the Green Grotto and White Grotto are equally beautiful, with clear waters and striking colors. The Natural Arch, dating from the Paleolithic age, offers a glimpse into the island’s geological history, while the Faraglioni rocks provide classic Capri scenery—three towering sea stacks that are just as impressive from the water as from the land.
Magical day on the water! We were picked up at our cruise terminal entrance, and whisked off to the marina where we picked up our smaller boat. Alexandra and Arcangelo were so welcoming! Seas were choppy, so not for someone with seasickness issues…. We swam in a quieter cove…. Water was so clean…

This was a great way to end out trip. The weather was great and being out on the water with the beautiful view was so relaxing. Lunch on Capri was delish. We took the funicular to Capri Town but it was so expensive up there we can back down and shopped down by the marina instead.
Great boat, clean, modern, nice staff. Didn’t do blue grotto as they said 3 hour wait. Very nice swimming spot we stopped at and lunch. Time to explore Capri too. Txx
Swimming, Snorkeling, and Relaxation
A major highlight is the ample time on Capri’s coast for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. Many reviews emphasize how much they appreciated the freedom to explore at their own pace. The boat often stops at scenic coves, and you can hop in the water to cool off or capture underwater photos.
What to bring? Be sure to pack a beach towel, sunscreen, a swimsuit, and your camera. The tour provides snacks and bottled water, ensuring you stay refreshed. Although lunch isn’t included, many travelers enjoy grabbing a meal or a gelato on the island—be prepared for some independent sightseeing and dining.
Land Exploration & Free Time
On land, travelers typically have several hours to wander Capri’s charming streets, visit boutiques, or relax at a café with views of the sea. Some guides give helpful tips on navigating the harbor or must-see spots, making your free time more enjoyable.
The Guide and Skipper Experience
Throughout the reviews, the guides and skippers receive high praise. Alessandra, Nunzia, Gabriel, and others are described as helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. They enhance the experience with local insights, taking great photos, and ensuring everyone feels comfortable—even those who aren’t confident swimmers.
The Value of the Small Group Experience

What really makes this tour stand out is the intimate vibe. Unlike large cruise ship excursions, you won’t be packed into a crowded boat or rushed through sights. Instead, the small group setting fosters a more relaxed and social atmosphere.
Several travelers mention that they felt like they received a private tour, with plenty of photo opportunities and personalized guidance. The stunning views, combined with the expert navigation through Capri’s bays and grottoes, make this a worthwhile investment for anyone seeking a memorable day.
Considerations
The main caveat is the dependence on weather—if wind or rain spoil your day, your trip could be canceled, as happened to some travelers. The company states they will offer alternatives or full refunds if conditions are poor, but it’s worth planning with some flexibility in mind.
Another aspect is sea conditions—moderate physical fitness is recommended, as you'll be on a boat for most of the day, and some stops involve getting in and out of the water.
Who Should Book This Tour?

This experience suits adventurous travelers who love beautiful scenery, small group intimacy, and authentic insights. It’s ideal for those who want to avoid the crowds and enjoy the island’s natural beauty from the sea. If you’re a photography enthusiast, you'll appreciate the vantage points and the chance to snap spectacular shots of Capri’s cliffs, grottoes, and Faraglioni.
It also works well for families, couples, or solo travelers looking for a relaxed yet engaging day. Be prepared for moderate physical activity and bring your sense of adventure—and your camera.
The Sum Up
Choosing this small group Capri boat tour from Naples offers a personalized, scenic, and authentic experience of Capri’s coastline and natural wonders. The knowledgeable guides and skippers elevate the trip with helpful tips and local insights, while the stunning views of grottoes and sea stacks make it a visual feast. The freedom to swim and explore on your own terms creates a relaxed atmosphere that larger tours often lack.
This tour delivers great value for those who want an intimate, scenic adventure that avoids the crowds and offers plenty of opportunities for photo fun and relaxing. It’s perfect for travelers who prioritize quality over quantity and enjoy a personal touch with their excursions.
